A 12 oz canvas upper and a vulcanized rubber sole are made to be worn every day. To keep them looking good for longer, here are some general canvas sneaker care tips you can follow at home.
Clean them regularly
- Brush off dust and dry dirt with a soft brush before using any water.
- Take the laces out and wash them separately with soap.
- For stains on the canvas, use water and mild soap, then brush gently in small circles.
- Wipe the rubber parts (foxing and sole) with a damp cloth and a little soap.
Skip the washing machine and dryer
The spin of a washing machine and the heat of a dryer can ruin the shape of your shoes and loosen bonded parts. Wash by hand, and only when needed.
Dry them the right way
- Stuff the shoes with paper so they keep their shape and the water is absorbed faster.
- Air-dry them in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade the canvas and turn white rubber yellow.
- Make sure they are completely dry before you wear or store them, so they do not stay damp and smell.
Store and rotate
Store your shoes somewhere dry with good airflow. If you can, rotate with another pair so each pair gets a rest and the insole dries out.
